Dashboard Redesign
An intuitive mobile shopping experience for online grocery delivery, featuring smart recommendations, easy reordering, and seamless checkout designed to make grocery shopping quick and convenient.
Project Background
FreshCart emerged from the growing demand for convenient online grocery shopping, particularly accelerated by changing consumer behaviors. The goal was to create a mobile app that could compete with established grocery delivery services while offering a superior user experience that felt natural and effortless.
User Research & Insights
Our research revealed that users were frustrated with lengthy product searches, complicated checkout processes, and difficulty recreating their regular shopping lists in digital format. We conducted user interviews with 40 frequent online grocery shoppers, created journey maps highlighting pain points, and analyzed competitor apps to identify opportunities for differentiation. Key insights showed users valued speed, accuracy, and the ability to recreate their in-store shopping habits digitally.
UX Strategy & Wireframing
The design solution centered around intelligent features that learn from user behavior. We created low-fidelity wireframes focusing on three core user flows: first-time shopping, repeat ordering, and recipe-based shopping. Information architecture was designed to mirror physical grocery store layouts, making navigation intuitive for users. We implemented a smart favorites system that automatically suggests frequently purchased items, a visual barcode scanner for quickly adding products, and recipe-based shopping lists that add all necessary ingredients with one tap.
Interface Design & Components
The interface uses high-quality product photography, clear pricing including per-unit costs for comparison, and real-time inventory updates to prevent order substitutions. We designed a custom icon set for product categories, implemented micro-interactions for adding items to cart with satisfying visual feedback, and created a clean bottom navigation that keeps key functions accessible. The checkout process was streamlined to a single screen with saved payment methods, delivery time slot selection, and tip options all visible without scrolling.
Testing & Optimization
We conducted five rounds of usability testing with 75 participants, iterating based on feedback. A/B testing showed our checkout flow had 45% fewer abandonments compared to competitor apps. We also designed a unique "shop previous orders" feature allowing users to recreate past purchases instantly, which became the most-used feature with 68% of repeat users utilizing it regularly.
Outcomes
The clean, produce-market-inspired visual design with green accents and photography-forward approach creates an appealing, trustworthy shopping environment that has driven a 30% increase in user retention and a 4.7-star rating on app stores. Average order completion time decreased by 40%, and cart abandonment rates dropped by 35% compared to the client's previous app.
